World premiere slow food travel

Delicious treasure hunt

We are the first. And that means worldwide.

The Gailtal and Lesachtal are the first Slow Food Travel Region. That means, we also show our guests something with real substance. People who, with passion – and often contrary to the spirit of the times – manufacture the very best products. The movement, which was originally founded by Carlo Petrini in Piedmont as a response to the fast-food craze, meets like-minded souls in this “Most Delectable Corner of Carinthia”. Barbara van Melle, chairperson of Slow Food Austria, formulates it as follows: “We are developing a completely new tourism offer, one which makes consumers, in the spirit of the Slow Food philosophy, co-producers.” Being able to make your own cheese, churn butter, harvest the white Gailtal corn, or knead the dough for Lesachtal bread, makes every holiday an unforgettable experience.

Marianne Daberer is a founding member of the regional Convivium. Out of conviction. No wonder, then, that the people of this delectable region are constantly coming and going right here at the Daberer. Begin your day with the slow.food.breakfast. And use us as your base camp for delicious explorations. One final tip. You can learn everything about the wonderful small producers in the region and the Alps-Adriatic world at Edelgreissler Herwig Ertl in Kötschach. No wonder that he is also the Slow Food chairperson of the new Convivium.
